The village of Coed-y-Paen and the immediately surrounding area is covered by two Community Councils: Llangybi Fawr and Llanbadoc.
The majority of the village is represented by Llangybi Fawr Community Council, which covers the villages of Llangybi and Llandegfedd as well as Coed-y-Paen. The village has two representatives on this Council. Currently these are Graham Rogers (01291 672170) and Dorothy McLeod (01633 450623). The
Council meets in Llangybi Village Hall at 7.30 pm on the third Tuesday of each month.
Llanbadoc Community Council represents residents in the wards of Llanbadoc, Glascoed and Monkswood which includes a few households to the east of Coed-y-Paen. Llanbadoc Community Council meets at 7pm on the first Wednesday of each month at County Hall, Coleg Gwent, Usk.
