At long last there is a plan to bring superfast (30MB/s) broadband to the village. Trevor Mosedale of Rural Technologies Wales specialises in getting broadband to rural communities who aren’t served by BT or any of the other big companies. He has a network up and running around Gilwern and Crickhowell and now plans to beam a signal from New Inn, across the reservoir, then via a couple of repeater aerials into Coed-y-Paen from the east. Grants are available to contribute towards the installation costs but if enough people sign up to the scheme, the costs will be entirely covered by the grants.
Trevor will present his plan, which initially covers the main area of the village, on Wednesday 28th September in The Carpenters Arms and will have details of his contract and the grant application procedure. Do come and hear Trevor, and see how soon you may benefit.
